The summertime fun keeps flowing in Washington DC with many activities and events, comprising free outdoor music concerts among other things. Take part in the following events when on private tours Washington DC this August to make your trip to the US capital city even more exciting.
Jazz Concerts in the Sculpture Garden of National Gallery of Art
You can partake in “Jazz in the Garden” held in the art gallery’s sculpture garden each Friday from 05:00 to 08:30 pm. The series of jazz concerts started on May 18, 2018, and the event will continue until August 24, 2018. The admission is free of cost, so you would not want to miss jazz artists performing concerts in a plethora of styles, including blues, Ska, boogaloo, and so forth.
The Smithsonian Sleepovers
The events held in select museums of the Smithsonian Institution, save Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, are sold-out for August. It is best to check with the museum authorities to know if spot admission tickets are available at other Smithsonian museums. Admissions are highly demanded since children can explore the world of air travel at the National Air and Space Museum’s center in Virginia’s Chantilly. The event slated for August 18 comprises art activities, games, and a look into flights to have reached the skies.
Film Festival of Comcast XFINITY®
The free screenings of four popular movies will be held at Strathmore, North Bethesda, from August 23 to August 26, 2018. The event will be held for a charity cause and movies will be screened at dusk. The screenings will start on August 23 with the Oscar-winning animation movie “Coco”. It will then screen the superhero film “Black Panther” on August 24, the animation classic “The Lion King” on August 25, and “Wonder Woman” on August 26.
17th Street Festival on August 25
The 17th street along northwest quadrant is full of its own wonders, so much so that it takes a day’s festival to bring them to the fore. The one-day festival will be held along the 1500 to 1600 blocks of the street in Washington DC. It will comprise street vendors, including artists displaying crafts, fine art, and jewelry. It will also include a children’s zone, where they can partake in some fun games.
The event to be held in Walter E. Washington Convention Center from August 10 to 12, 2018 will celebrate the pop culture from Asia and their fandom. The event will bring together anime, films, music, manga, video games, and so forth, so make sure to catch it when on private Washington DC tours.
